Leaf Furniture Shipping Policy
Thank you for choosing Leaf Furniture. Every piece we create is custom-crafted by hand in our Revelstoke, BC workshop. Because high-end furniture requires specialized handling, we treat the shipping process with the exact same care we put into building your furniture.
Please review our shipping guidelines, options, and expectations below.
1. Where We Ship
· Canada & Continental USA: We offer fully insured freight and delivery services across Canada and the lower 48 US states.
· Worldwide Shipping: For deliveries outside of North America, please contact us directly at info@leaffurniture.ca for a custom international ocean or air freight quote.
2. Production & Transit Timelines
· Custom Build Time: Because our furniture is made to order, production times generally range from 10 and 16 weeks depending on the complexity of the design and current workshop capacity.
3. Delivery Options & Tiers
We offer two tiers of delivery at checkout to suit your budget and capability:
Tier 1: Curbside Freight Delivery (Standard)
· The Service: Your furniture is securely packed in a custom wooden crate and shipped via a Less-Than-Truckload (LTL) freight carrier.
· What to Expect: The carrier will schedule a delivery window and drop the crate at the end of your driveway or curbside using a lift-gate truck.
· Customer Responsibility: You are responsible for uncrating the item, disposing of the packaging materials, and bringing the furniture inside your home. We highly recommend having at least two capable adults present.
Tier 2: White-Glove Inside Delivery (Premium)
· The Service: The ultimate hassle-free option. Your furniture is shipped to a local white-glove delivery terminal near your home.
· What to Expect: A two-person professional delivery team will schedule a time, bring the furniture inside your home, place it in your room of choice, handle light assembly (if required), and remove all packaging and crating debris.
· Availability: White-glove service may have limited availability in certain remote or rural zip/postal codes.
4. USA & International Customs, Duties, and Taxes
· Customs Brokerage: For all US orders, Leaf Furniture coordinates the necessary cross-border customs paperwork.
· Fees: Unless explicitly stated at checkout, the customer is responsible for any state taxes, local use taxes, or specific international customs duties levied by the destination country upon arrival.
5. Inspection & Freight Damage (Crucial)
We fully insure every shipment. However, the insurance is only valid if damage is documented immediately upon delivery.
· Upon Arrival: You must inspect the exterior of the crate/packaging before signing the carrier’s Bill of Lading (delivery receipt).
· If You See Crate Damage: Note "Product Damaged" or "Crate Damaged" directly on the driver’s paperwork before signing. Take clear photos of the damage immediately.
· Concealed Damage: Unpack your furniture within 48 hours of delivery. If you discover damage to the furniture that was hidden by the packaging, take photos and contact us immediately at info@leaffurniture.ca
· Important: Signing the delivery receipt without noting any damage releases the freight company from liability, making a successful insurance claim impossible.
6. Returns, Refunds, and Cancellations
· No Returns or Refunds: Because every piece of Leaf Furniture is custom-crafted to your unique specifications (dimensions, wood species, and finishes), all sales are final. We do not accept returns, exchanges, or issue refunds for any custom-made items.
· Cancellations: If you need to cancel your order, you must do so within 48 hours of placing it. Once materials have been sourced and production has begun in our workshop, orders can no longer be cancelled or altered.
· Approval Process: We will provide you with digital photo updates of your completed piece before it is crated and shipped from our workshop to ensure it meets your expectations.
7. Missed Deliveries & Storage Fees
Our carriers will always call or email you to schedule a delivery appointment. If you are not present during your scheduled delivery window, or if a delivery fails because of restricted property access, you may be billed for re-delivery and storage fees charged by the freight carrier.
8. Immediate Post-Transit Care Instructions
Wood is a natural, living material that reacts to changes in humidity and temperature during its journey across North America. To keep your custom piece looking beautiful for generations, follow these strict care guidelines upon uncrating:
· Acclimatization: Allow your furniture to rest in its final room for 48 hours to adjust to your home's indoor climate. Keep it away from direct heat vents, fireplaces, and air conditioners.
· Cleaning Standard: Clean the surface using only a soft, microfiber cloth lightly dampened with warm water and a drop of mild dish detergent.
· Avoid Harsh Chemicals: Never use commercial wood polishes, spray cleaners, bleach, ammonia, multi-surface sprays, or abrasive scrubbing pads. These chemicals will permanently strip or cloud our custom protective finishes.
· Spills: Wipe up all liquid spills immediately to prevent water rings or finish damage.
